Laguna Golf Lang Co
About
A hidden gem in a stunning, links-style setting on the coast
Attractively set on a sandy strip of dune land between imposing mountains and the South China Sea, Laguna Lang Co Golf Club is perhaps the boldest creation of designer Nick Faldo, deservedly picking up the accolade of Best New Course in Asia Pacific at the 2013 Asian Golf Awards. A traditional out-and-back affair with links-like characteristics, the course weaves between trees, paddy fields and beautiful coastline to offer a visually arresting treat for golfers of all abilities.
Each hole on the course has its own character, offering golfers a myriad of opportunities for exciting and memorable play. While the terrain is generally flat, the fairways are marked by some serious undulations, placing a premium on a flat stance. The greens are a morass of swales, ridges and hollows, often offering up a serious challenge to get down in two even following a strong approach.
The course doesn't play long at just 6,961 yards from the back tees (par 71), so the emphasis here is on course management rather than power hitting, and a variety of tee boxes mean even high handicappers shouldn't face a long day. However, with some tight landing areas and hazards that occasionally bisect the fairway, it's tough to score well on your first go, so you're well advised to listen to the excellent caddies.
On the front nine, particularly notable is the long, doglegging par-4 4th, where your drive must cut the edge of the paddy fields to stand a chance of making the green in two. The elevated putting surface is well protected, with a deep bunker in front, a paddy field to the left and thick undergrowth behind. The par-3 8th is also a treat, its elevated green attractively framed by vegetation and the need for an imposing carry over sandy wasteland.
The pick of the back nine is probably the 11th, a short downhill par-3 whose green is protected on both sides by large rocks which, if hit, an leave you some way from the putting surface. The green itself is very long, and a large mound at the centre means you can have a tough time making par.
The par-5 finishing hole is an excellent way to finish the round, so long as you can avoid the imposing, 5-meter high fairway bunkers in the landing area. Many a round has come unstuck on approach, where you must make sure to carry the dunes fronting the green if you want to avoid a final blemish on your scorecard.
The facilities at Laguna Golf Lang Co are impressive, including a well-stocked pro shop, luxurious locker rooms, extensive practice facilities, a sports bar, and an excellent fine dining restaurant. The Lang Co complex also includes Banyan Tree and Angsana resorts and spas and villas, offering guests a luxurious golf resort experience.
A must play on any Da Nang golf holiday.

Course was in a very good condition but as expected there were areas being repaired.Pace of play was ok until we caught up to the group of well known Vietnamese businessmen.Pace was then incredibly slow and for at least 8 holes the marshal was not sightedINTERESTING COURSE
We arrived from Da Nang city in 50 minutes by bus.It didn't take much time. The fairway was wider than I expected, and each hole was impressive. The green speed was fast and interesting. Women and elderly carts are allowed to run om the course. We couldn't.I had a 73 year old partner...Enjoyed
